Dig Out

Push aside the rubble

Of that collapsed life

How it crumbled down around you

Buried you under all you could not do

The beams across your legs

Fallen structures in your mind

All the expectations that they told you

Held treasured happiness unkind

Crawl away from every moment

Tangled ankles tightly wound

The edifice of other’s imperfect ideation

Of a life of satisfaction

Would not stand firm around the fire in your soul

You burned it down

Smoldering and crumbled

From the ashes you have rumbled

To wander and to search now

For something ethereal and true

Far out of reach

Not well defined

Balanced on the wire

Of uncertainty and exploration

Through mists of dreams anticipation

Don’t look back

Don’t look down

Each step takes your full concentration

Until you reach new ground

Blaze the trail through mystery

Among the trees of wisdom

Revive your spirit

Drink deeply from the clear calm lake

Of peaceful contemplation

You were meant to wonder

Your were meant to question

You are here to redefine

You are here to realign

Leave the ruins there

To be covered by the vines

Let the past be fallow

Plant your dream into the wind

All your intentions changing patterns

Circle thrice and say the words

Singing chanting writing

The world is waiting for your voice

For your stepping into power

Dance the dance that’s dancing

The music of your life

Something greater than yourself

Is emerging

Calling you away from strife

One more step and you can fly now

One more turn and you will soar

The wings that you’ve been growing

Snapping open

Stretching wide

Fly up with me, my friend

We meet again outside of time

We meet again outside of time

Unspoken

Treasure, trash, and fallen blossom

What have you here in common

Laying, lying languid

On the ground

Decayed and disregarded

Bound for compost breaking down

Let loose the seeds of hopes unspoken

Let them roll and blow into the richest

Barest seam

Cracked rocks cupping dust

Of years now gone and passed

Grab hold of just one ripening

Swelling bursting dream

Each emotion watering

Rivulets and streams

Finding purchase in the barren

This treasure grows from both

The pleasant and the scream

Each rooted tendril seeking

Necessary nutrients embedded

In the rocky bottom of the deepest

Silent permutations

While rising from the surface of

A broken earth

Sprouts brand new incarnation

Incantated leaves

Unfurling and unfolding

Wings of every quiet quest

Growing there unspoken

Shoots of happiness

Puddle of Words

I fell into the puddle

Like a portal lying there

Reflecting trees and skies

The words that drew me inward

I fell through every letter

Into a different world

Each sentence pulled me downward

The phrases building folks who

Walked on cobbled paths

Carrying baskets filled with wares

Dodging horse and carts and chickens

I fell into the puddle

Through to another place

Where the heroes battled creatures

Well defined and clear

Where the outcome was uncertain

But the action was decisive

A world unlike our world

With its hazy ambiguity

With its tricky navigation

With its dicey risking choices

With its rolling indecision

Each letter brought me closer

Every phrase painted in the detail

Each sentence led me onward

Until I reached the end

And came back to this world

Bringing with me what I learned

The treasures which we cherish

Are unmeasured when they

Are love

Infinite

Unending

I walk along the sidewalk

A library of wishes

After a light rain

Peering into puddles

Until I fall again

Forest Heart

By lantern light, she walked the forest path

Shadows dancing with the light it cast

Near the fairy gate she trod

Barefoot on mossy coated sod

Placed lantern in a boulder nook

Next to the quiet bubbling brook

She waited for the sun to rise

Beneath the clear and starry skies

Around her swirled in gilded guise

The spirits of the woodland wise

Whispering of secret stores

Tales of hidden treasure hoards

She begged them off her time to wait

For she had come to meet her fate

As the morning rays pierced canopy

She found her heart among the leaves

Her head she laid upon its breast

To dream all day in tranquil rest

When she awoke her heart reclaimed

Her voice she lifted to proclaim

A calling to the earth and sky

The treasure which she sought to find

Had always been inside her mind

She took up the empty lantern case

In the fading light of setting sun

She made her way back home

Through winding forest path she went

She walked the long road home

She walked the road alone
