Lying in the grass
Watching clouds float above me
The humming of the bees, and bugs
Were toning among the flowers
While dreaming shapes were wound
Up in the air, I wished to fly
But it was not to be
There were no wings for flight
I could not remember how to launch
Gravity clenched me close to earth
Gravity cinched me anchored to the earth
And so my eyes were widened drenched
In fancies of dust and mist
Until I swallowed every shape, and
Every curve
And every wish
There dragons, fish, and dolphins
I ate them up with sight
Faces of the mermaids, and the trolls
I lie there in the grass until I started getting cold
I lie there in the grass until I started getting old
I lie there in the grass and now I’ve turned to stone
When you pass me on your journey
Lay your hand upon my seams
Those cracks and divots peeling are where
The early morning steam
Releases each and every wish I ate
Releasing every dream
Don’t linger long within my meadow
Touch me swiftly
Move along
The gravity is strong here
The weight of all that’s wrong here
Caught between the dreams and earth
Caught between the earth and dreams
